Diagnosis of PCOS | Tests, Patient symptoms to watch out for! | Dr. Sahana Deshpande
"In any patient diagnosed with polycystic ovarian disease, we see any patient who walks into the clinic will be overweight. They would have gained this weight suddenly and over a few months of 6 to 7 months and during this time they would have had stressful time and this will add to their weight. This weight will lead to irregular periods and lead to complaints and also a androgenic forms like having acanthosis nigricans that is blackening of the nape of the neck, blackening at the axilla and other parts of the groin. Along with this we see androgenic alopecia, that is decreased hair on the scalp these are the things we look at the patient. Along with this we see truncal obesity, that is in gents we see more fat in the abdominal area. In female pattern of fatness in the curvy region that is at the hips, but in the gents the obesity comes in the trunks that is because of the male hormone ah is increased in patients with PCOS"

Major Causes of PCOS | Lifestyle Disease | Dr. Sahana Deshpande
"Coming to the causes of PCOS, for the medical book it says it has a genetic problems and it starts form the mother’s womb from where the fetus is exposed to male hormones, it he women, where the male when stats developing but it shows only in teenage when shade starts attaining menarche. Menarche in the sense when she starts her first cycles. Initially in the first 2 years if she has irregular cycle, then we don’t consider it as PCOS because that is when the maturity of the hypothalamo pituitary axis or the ovarian axis happens. So first 2 years of irregular cycles can t be taken as PCOS. But after 2 years if she has irregular cycles, then definitely the patient is going in for polycystic ovaries changing their lifestyle of heavy diet, exercise, having time to time sleep. Having sleep pattern that is 10 oclock sleep, 6 to 7 o clock waking up, avoiding night time gadgets, avoiding these thing. So these are the timings that are needed so that we can curb the polycystic ovaries becoming full blown"
TREATMENT MODALITIES available for PCOS | Dr. Sahana Deshpande
"The Treatment modalities available for PCOS is everybody’s concern because the urban population almost 50% of the population is ending up in PCOS right form teenage, to reproductive age and menopausal age. So according to age wise you have the treatment for PCOS. In teenage all I would advise is to have a healthy eating, exercise habits. If the PCOS is to bad and have cycles once in 6 months , we go in for oral contraceptive pills. Which is a cyclical pills and we use it as a treatment modality. Coming to reproductive age, we have to see if the woman wants to conceive or to avoid pregnancy right now if the want to avoid pregnancy the polycystic ovaries will be treated with contraceptive pills whereas people wanting pregnancy. For them we want ovulation caution and if they dont respond to tablets, then eg for IUI , then their last stage will be contraceptive pills. So among all these stages the continuous exercise have to be continued then the result of this has to be continued. Even the women in menopausal age they have irregular heavy bleeding and people having PCOS they will be having more to estrogen lifelong and will have heavy menstrual bleeding lifelong and they will have higher risk of endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer and breast cancers. So they need to be deviated of the same. So healthy lifestyle is what I would advise everybody for PCOS"
