Best Maternity Hospital in Chennai | Normal Delivery at Cloudnine Hospital

Videos by our doctors

Why & When should one go for Postpartum Contraception? I Dr. Nazira Sadique
"Postpartum contraception is done mainly so that you can space your family. So you can concentrate on your first child. So you can take care of whatever her problems and you can look after yourself also and many may be career oriented, working women and a conception soon within, say 1 year of the first delivery is going to be a burden for the working lady and also before she completely regains herself from the first delivery, then going immediately for the next child is going to tell on her health. Her health will deteriorate. So that is why we advise for spacing between the first child and the second child. So it is your choice. So that is why the postpartum contraception is very mandatory. So one, you can improve yourself and then you can concentrate on the upbringing of your first child"
Best method of Postpartum Contraception | BIRTH CONTROLI Dr. Nazira Sadique
"The best method is the method that you chose. So what suits you is the best method, we can only offer you the various choices. So what suits you, you have to decide. It can be a Copper T, it can be a mirena, it can be injections, it can be pills. So the best method is what you think is the best for you. So the choices we offer and the problems or whatever the side effects we can explain to you but what is best for you is what you choose. So that is the best method. It is your choice, your choice is the best method"
When to plan a Pregnancy after Postpartum Contraception I Dr. Nazira Sadique
"Post-partum contraception is your choice as I said. So you can plan when you want, maybe you want to give a gap of 2 years, you want to give a gap of 3 years, anytime it is your choice. So I told you that there are methods. So intrauterine devices are kept in place like say 3 year 5 years or even upto 10 years. So it is your choice how long you want the gap to be. So the same contraception can be followed or you can switch over to another type of contraception, till as long as you want to avoid the pregnancy. So you can plan it as per your convenience and choice"
What is Sterilisation? | BIRTH CONTROL METHOD I Dr. Nazira Sadique
"All the contraceptive methods that I have talked about so far are temporary methods, say if you are using a Copper T, once you remove and the contraception protection is gone and you can conceive. The same way, once you stop the injections or the pills, then the contraception effect is gone and then you can conceive. So they are all temporary method. When you opt for sterilisation, then it is a permanent method where you don’t want to have any more children. So you don’t want to conceive again. So that is why sterilisation is a permanent method It can be done if you have done if you have had a caesarean section for the previous caesarean section and now for this pregnancy all you are going on for a caesarean section, then it can be done concurrently. It is a tubal ligation that is ligation of the fallopian tubes. So it is cut and ligated. So at the time of the caesarean section, it can be cut and ligated. That is one methods. Or you can get it done after delivery, within 3 to 5 days of normal delivery, you can ago for a post-partum sterilisation. If you don’t want it immediately, then you can wait, say if your child is a preterm, and you are very scared that it will affect and if you get sterilised now, you will be wondering whether this child if it gets any problems, then how you are going to face it. So you can get it done what is called as an interval sterilisation or once you get your periods, you can opt for the date and do it later, say after a year or a two, or that is your choice again or that is at a convenient date. But until then you go for a temporary method and go for wat is called as a laparoscopic sterilisation, which is a day care procedure. So instead of ligating the tube, we apply what is called as a falope rings to the tubes, that is the fallopian tubes. That is the laparoscopic method, that is the keyhole surgery and it is a day care procedure and you can wait for the baby to grow up or you can do it during your children’s school holidays. But make sure that you get your periods and inform your doctor and come with the proper investigations and aesthetic fitness and that can be done at a later date, maybe one year or two years. So sterilisation is a permanent method where you don’t want to have any children. So usually couples opt for a sterilisation after 2 children, either immediately, or at a later date, after 1 year or 2 years. So the method may vary from open sterilisation to laparoscopic sterilisation"
Postpartum Contraception or Birth Control after delivery? I Dr. Nazira Sadique
"Postpartum contraception is something very essential. It is something how you plan for your pregnancy any couple for that matter, if they have to plan the pregnancy they have to put in lot of thought into it and they time their conception when it is convenient for them. So in the same way the postpartum contraception is a part of every couple’s life because it is a very crucial decision that they have to take, be it is a normal delivery or be it a caesarean section. So it is that period when you start it is called as postpartum contraception. Contraception means that you are preventing conception. So it is something temporary till you decide your next child"
What is done in Postpartum Contraception? | BIRTH CONTROL I Dr. Nazira Sadique
"Postpartum contraception is a couple’s choice. So there are three methods of contraception. If it is after the first child then it is a temporary contraception, because you are going to plan your child at a later date. So whatever methods you are going to follow is going to be of a temporary nature. So it can be of one year, it can be of 2 year. It can be of 3 years or 5 years. It is your choice. So you have things called a intrauterine devices like Copper T or even mirena can be used or there are injectable contraceptives, that can be taken once every 3 months and there are tables that can be taken during immediate postpartum , but it will not affect your lactation, that is the milk supply to your baby will not be reduced by any of these three methods. So those tablets that can be taken in the postpartum period are different from the other oral contraceptive pills which you can get to know after a consult with a doctor and the other method is a barrier method which the make partner can take upon himself for the contraception. But the only problem with the barrier method, that is the condom usage is that the failure rate is very high"
